HEAT WAVE
It’s only early June and already we’re into triple digit heat here in North Texas. I think it’s going to be a very long summer….
Shelly is the only one brave enough to go out in this heat and sit on the back porch with me….She’s such a sweetie.
I made these great watermelon martinis. The recipe is here. It calls for simple syrup, and if you don’t have any on hand, you make your own, it takes less than five minutes. The recipe is here. The martinis were fantastic–kind of a sweet, salty taste.
Here’s how to get the look:
Bootcut Stretch Jeans: Citizens of Humanity, $154
Skinny Ankle Jeans: Rock & Republic, $178
Slub Side Panel Shirt in Black: James Perse, $155
Slub Side Panel Shirt in White: James Perse, $155
The Tomboy Shirt: Rag & Bone, $124
Italian Sterling Silver Bracelet: Ross-Simons, $221

it’s a million degrees in nyc, I’m quite jealous of your margarita.
Watermelon margaritas, oh my goodness this is now officially my summer cocktail!! I’ve been following yours and Jane’s blog for some time now (I’m an Austinite who has transplanted to LA) and I would really love your support on my blog!

love this post! shelly is a trooper. she is so adorable. i know it’s hot in texas. my mom has been complaining. but seriously…nyc is HOT and HUMID right now too. it’s so nasty out! i feel as if we didn’t even get a spring this year. it went from cold, to two weeks of rain (our spring) and then bam! hot summer.
those apple martinis look divine too!! wish i was there to try one.

My question is- how is the 4 hour body coming along? do you still like the book and its ideas?
OK…THAT’S what I need! A watermelon martini!! Looks amazing! Thanks for posting!
Try to keep cool!!!!
yeah it must be very hot in Texas right now…in Barcelona summer is not coming, I mean its raining, I cant believe it we should be at the beach!!
anyways, great shirt !!
have a great day.
Dana,
I’m hit and miss at it. Not nearly as focused as I need to be. As for the program, I like it, I think it’s good. Not a fan of the binge day–treat it as more of a “cheat” day. The word binge sounds dangerous. Other than that–I do like the program.
I adore your dogs. All of them ^^
And such chic nailpolish you have!

chunky silver bracelets, watermelon martinis and turquoise toes- fabulous! you made me forget about the heat for a moment, that drink looks so refreshing.
it’s boiling down here in corpus, too, even with the sea breeze.
You look so beautiful and elegant in such simple clothes – the fit, cut, and material is everything. What watch are you wearing? I love the muscular look and want to find something similar. Love your blog (and Jane’s).
Elena,
It’s a Cartier men’s watch–I always wear men’s watches. My hands are very large.
love the watermelon martini idea, sounds very refreshing for those triple digit days. i am a tom collins girl myself, when it comes to a simple summer drink, but it is always good to break out of the box….

Try the martinis with a little limoncello too. Very, very refreshing!
Hello, Judy. I envy you with this warm weather. I’m in Brazil, and here now we are at the very beginning of the winter. And it’s frozen here at the south of the country. The good point is that we can try pretty cool outfits, with its boots and scarfs. The bad point is that we get the flues much more easily. And sick, you know, we are ugly! That’s why I’m writing to you. You are a beautiful woman. Don’t complain about a weather that allows you to be your sexiest side. Yes, to be. Because you have a great body, and in a fresh summer dress you are amazing. Ready for a hot and dramatic romance. Oh, how I envy you! The beaches is right out there, I’m in Florianopolis, but I can’t use my best summer dresses. Just wait for this winter to be done. That’s life. Cheers!
