NOSTALGIC
This past weekend, I spent some time packing since the house is on the market, and it will all have to be packed at some point. I was feeling so nostalgic, and having such mixed feelings about leaving my house. The girls and I have shared so many memories here, and we’ve changed it so much, and made it our own. (According to the feedback of potential buyers, we may have made it a little too much our own.) The Saturday mail arrived, and in it was a copy of Elle Decoration Norge, featuring a 6 page spread on my house. It’s so beautiful, but it really made me sad about leaving……
Shoes pulled out of the closet, waiting to be packed.
Pictures of the girls when they were young waiting to be packed away.
A whole new world awaits us…when my house sells.

I have followed you and Jane`s blogs for years. As a student in Norway on a tight budget, the inspiration and encouragement I get from reading about the various projects and adventures you and the girls are involved with is so precious to me. I’m eager to see what you will accomplish in a new home when the time comes. Lots of luck from a devoted reader way up north.
Thank you Marlene, you made my day.
Have I been living under a rock? You’re moving? Where to?
Oh my, it will be so exiting to see your decorating ideas in a new home!
Caroline–Yes, we’re moving to Dallas as soon as our home sells. It’s just been on the market for a couple of weeks.
I love going back on your site and seeing the design evolution of your home. So fun. Congrats and good luck on selling.
Hi Judy !
I’m sad we won’t get to see your home in your posts anymore. But I can’t wait to see how you’ll decorate the new one !
Have you found the house of your dreams yet ?
I’ll have to pick that issue of Elle up. Change is always good….hopefully you’ll find another place you love just as much.
It is uplifting to see the your excitement and anticipation upon the new adventure. Love that last picture! Many blessings & best of lucks!
HI Judy!
Love your blog, you are always very inspiring!
I was wondering if you could shed some light on how best to pack shoes!? I have moved many times and have tried various methods but can’t seem to get it just right!
Im curious to know what you think! Good luck on the new home, its the memories that count!

awww, i’d be nostalgic, too. moving from a place that’s been yours in every way….packing up all those memories. it’s exciting, though. i’ve certainly had my share of moves.
congrats on the elle feature! i wish the norge version was available here.
Change is always a bit scary but in my experience I’ve never once regretted any changes I’ve made! I’m sure a new and exciting adventure awaits you! Best Wishes!
I understand how you’re feeling, I would feel sad too and nostalgic if I had to leave my house, the place where I grew…but the best is to come ! it can be a wonderful thing, change is good! wish you the best and hope you’ll find a new house you’ll love as much as this one !
Ashley,
Stuff your shoes tightly with newspaper when you pack them so they don’t end up squashed and out of shape. Hope that helps.
Hi, just like Marlene, I am a devoted reader too! From Poland. I just bought a house here in Warsaw, but if I only were in US, I would love to buy Your house! I just hope your house will be bought by people, who can appreciate it & will love Your absolutely beautiful decor, forget about buyers complaining that you had made it a little to much of your own!
Allcja,
Thanks so much, and the best of luck to you on your new home! judy
Wow Judy. As a reader all these years I feel like i have a strong connection with your house. I can’t imagine how it feels with all the memories of the girls as kids running around the house. But I’m sure you will do wonders in your new home. I can’t wait to see that. If I weren’t here in Manila I would buy your house, if I could.
House is amazing.

Hi Judy, I’m surprised at myself for feeling sad that you’re leaving your home, but I guess that’s just testament to how I’ve grown to appreciate your style and creativity, and, more importantly, your wonderful relationship with your girls. I wish I had had a mom like you!
Thank you so much Jennifer!
Your house is beautiful, and I am so surprised that it hasn’t sold yet…..I guess when you decorate your house it really is one of those gambles when you decide to sell since you have to find a seller with the same taste as you….I’m sure someone will come along and get this fabulous home…..
Do you already have a new house in mind? At least we will be able to see more fabulous decorating posts once you move.

Hi,
I bought that issue of Elle just last week and fell completely in love with your home – such an inspiration. Just like this blog.
Jen–Jane and I have a place picked out, we are hoping that it doesn’t go before I sell our home. We’ve had a lot of activity this week–so keep your fingers crossed!!

Hello, I simply wanted to take time to make a comment and say I have really enjoyed reading your site.
My site is on Canon Cameras.
Hi. I love your eyeglasses. Can you tell me who makes them?
Thanks
Melissa,
The glasses are Ray Ban wayfarers.
Dear Judy,
I love all your posts. Your house is beautiful! I am sure it will sell easily to the right person… the one who will appreciate what a lovely home it is. Will be looking forward to seeing you work on the new place.
Cheers,
Mariel
