CLOSET DAY 3

Here is how things look on the third day of my closet make-over.  My closet could not be enlarged, so Sam had the great idea of adding closet space along the outside wall of my bedroom.  My bedroom is not huge, but not at all small either.  There was a lot of unused space because of the way the bedroom is designed.

Closet 11
These arched spaces will be finished out, and make pretty little enclaves for my clothing.  It will make more sense as I show you the progress.  Anyway, I thought this was a very clever and cost effective way to add a LOT of closet space in an older home.  I did lose some of my room space, but I would happily choose closet space anyday!! The materials needed for this job can be purchased for under $500–and if you have someone handy around, you could double your closet size for under $500!  (not bad)

This is the other side of the window…..

Closet 2

Another small closet space.  The bedroom window will now look recessed, and I will put my pretty little settee in that space.

Sofa

I hope you all enjoy the photos—I feel like this is something that could apply to a lot of bedrooms that are closet challenged.  More later….

There are some pretty new necklaces up on the site!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Judy I’m so envious of your new storage soloutions! You really do need the space though, don’t you!

Hi Judy – this looks great. Are you going to continue framing all the way around the window and put cupboards above? It would really frame your window nicely — oh, and you could put in a little window seat that is the same depth as you closet underneath with even more storage (of course, I can’t tell if your window goes all the way down to the floor). Can’t wait to see the finished product – I adore this kind of stuff :)

I wish I had more closet space too, all of the stuff is just pushed in there. The rest hangs on the walls. A pretty crazy sight!
I’m dreaming of such a couch later, in my future closet room :D

Ohh I quite like Kym’s idea above about framing your window and putting a window seat in, although you may not need one with that lovely lounge!
I look forward to seeing the end result as I currently have all my shoes and bags in the linen closet!

I can’t wait to see what your end result is. I am having a closet dilemma too and it’s just so hard to put things together when you can seem to move the hangers around.
I don’t know how you do it!

He who would do well to another must do it in minute particulars; general good is the plea of the scoundrel, hypocrite and flatterer. What do you think?
